HOOVER – Metro Diner, a diner offering classic comfort food with flair, is opening its doors on Aug. 8.
The eatery, which will feature dishes made from scratch, award-winning presentations, unique recipes and imaginative twists on old classics, is now hiring more than 100 Inverness-area residents, according to a press release.
Applications to join the Metro Diner team will be accepted for all positions including servers, hosts, cooks and kitchen staff.

The 3,636-sq. ft. eatery will open its second Alabama location at 180 Inverness Plaza in Birmingham, featuring a menu of everyone’s favorite diner classics and gluten-friendly options. Serving all day breakfast, lunch and dinner, the diner will indulge the taste buds with new twists on traditional dishes made from scratch and sip on beer, wine, mimosas and bloody marys.
Metro Diner makes sure that guests don’t have to go far to discover new delicious dishes by featuring daily blackboard specials with quality ingredients and a scratch kitchen where they make their own sauces, soups and compotes. In addition, Metro Diner hand cuts their home fries and cracks fresh eggs daily.
From its Fried Chicken and Waffles topped with house-made strawberry butter and signature sweet and spicy syrup, to its Charleston Shrimp & Grits, the large portion sizes enable every guest to enjoy a delicious meal at a great value, with most dishes priced under $15. The diner will feature seating for 96 guests inside and patio seating for 28 guests outside and will be open on Sunday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The Birmingham community is invited to celebrate the arrival of Metro Diner at special pre-opening charity events where all donations will benefit Grace House on Saturday, Aug. 5 and the Greater Birmingham Humane Society on Sunday, Aug. 6.
Guests who provide a donation will receive a sneak peek of the new eatery and enjoy Metro Diner favorites.
