1 killed, 1 injured in Montevallo shooting, car wreck

MONTEVALLO- One person was killed and another was injured after a shooting and car accident occurred on Shelby County 203 at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21.
According to Montevallo Police Chief Jeremy Littleton, two passengers sustained multiple injuries after the vehicle they were traveling in was shot at.
Littleton said the passengers were shot at the intersection of Shelby County 203 and Bice Circle, and they continued to travel for several more blocks until the vehicle crashed into a residential area.
Littleton confirmed that a 25-year-old male was transported to Shelby Baptist Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The other passenger, a 31-year-old male, remains at UAB Hospital where he is being treated.
“We offer our condolences to the families of the victims,” Littleton said.
The Montevallo Police Department is working with multiple local agencies to conduct the investigation. Police are currently working on a few leads, but no suspects have been identified.
“We appreciate the help of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and other local agencies in investigating this incident,” Littleton said.
Littleton said police are taking extra precautions to make sure that everyone within the area near Shelby County 203 is safe.
“We do feel that it was an isolated incident, but we have patrols out to put people at ease,” Littleton said. “We’re taking this very seriously, and we are using all the resources possible.”
