ALABASTER – Linda Curtis has worked to remodel her newly opened barber shop as part of a continued project to renovate a portion of old downtown Alabaster.
“I am really excited about the changes that are happening in this part of Alabaster,” Curtis said. “I think the biggest difference for our location is the remodeling. Customers notice us now.”
Curtis opened Linda’s Barbershop, located off of First Street South, on April 20.
The barbershop is the site of the former Edmondson’s Barber Shop, where Curtis previously worked for three years.
“The owner of Edmondson’s decided to retire,” Curtis said. “When I found that out I decided to buy the business. Once I bought it, I worked to remodel the inside by giving it new paint. I have also landscaped around the business, and just done other things to make it have a fresh look to it.”
Curtis also hired a new stylist, Casie Anderson, who previously worked as a stylist on 280, and started working at Linda’s Barbershop this week.
“We also offer customers coffee, snacks, and doughnuts,” Curtis said. “It is just a different feel when you walk inside.”
The business provides hair services for men, women, and children, in addition to other services such as waxings and perms.
Curtis has been cutting hair for 24 years, after working as a stylist in both Clanton and Hoover, before cutting hair in Alabaster.
“This whole strip of Alabaster is changing, and it is really exciting to see all of the new businesses coming,” Curtis said. “I am really happy to be a part of the changes, and we look forward to serving our customers.”
The business is open Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Walk-ins are welcome, and appointments can be made by calling the shop at 663-9983.
A special ribbon cutting is being held May 25 from 2-2:30 p.m. sponsored by the Greater Shelby County Chamber of Commerce.
There will be food, and door prizes for those interested in attending.
