PELHAM – Pelham City Schools is offering a summer care program from May 30-Aug. 4 for incoming kindergarten through sixth grade students.
John Vincent, PCS coordinator of after school and summer school programs, said the program will be housed at Pelham Ridge Elementary Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Registration costs $20 and is currently open to students who are currently enrolled in PCS. The program costs $125 per week, which doesn’t include the cost of field trips.
Vincent said the students will participate in outdoor activities, educational computer games and arts and crafts during the duration of the program. Field trips are scheduled for the McWane Science Center, Ruffner Mountain, Oak Mountain Lanes and the Birmingham Botanical Gardens.
Vincent said this is the school system’s first year offering a summer care program. The program was previously offered through a private organization.
Parents will be responsible for providing their children’s lunch and snacks.
Vincent said there isn’t a deadline to sign up for the program. To register, go to Pelhamcityschools.org and click on the Extended Day Program tab on the left side of the page.
