Lallie “Frances” Ludolf Jones Hill

Lallie “Frances” Ludolf Jones Hill, age 82, of Montevallo, entered into rest on Thursday, May 4, after a long struggle because of Alzheimer’s disease.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Bessie Ludolf of Bessemer; husbands, Garvas Dean Jones Sr. and John Hill; son, Garvas Deen Jones Jr.; and brothers, Luther Ludolf and Earl Ludolf.

She is survived by her daughters, Adele (Mark) Nelson of Montevallo, Rebecca (Roger) Martin of Warrior; step-daughter, Theresa (Rick) Fillingame of Foley; grandchildren, Chris (Heather) Nelson, Heath (Jenn) Nelson, Paul Crowder, Sarah Long, Sam Martin, Anthony Martin, Issac Martin; and several great grandchildren.

A conversation with Frances would be her stating that she was the fourth of ten children in order of boy/girl, so her surviving brothers and sisters are Denton (Doris) Ludolf of Orroville, California, Katherine Line of Bessemer, Molly Herring of Adger, Bobby Ludolf of Clanton, Brenda McCann of Boise, Idaho, Rayford (Geraldine) of Quinton, and Iva Duke of Bessemer.

Frances is best remembered in Montevallo as the infant nursery worker at University Baptist Child Development Center during the late 70’s. Frances later worked in the food service industry at Bessemer Hospital. She was an admirer of covered bridges, long walks, Mary Higgins Clark books, coin jewelry, smooth rocks, leaves, banana splits, the fashion color red; had a green thumb and was a excellent seamstress.

Thanks to Bibb Medical Center and Nursing Home for their care of Frances since Oct. 20, 2016.

Visitation will be held at Rockco Funeral Home, Montevallo, Monday evening, May 8 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 9 at University Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Pastor Daniel Stallings officiating. No formal graveside services will be held.
