PELHAM – American Legion Matthew Blount Post 555 is hosting its Triple Nickel Beach Bash from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, at Oak Mountain State Park.
Event coordinator and Post 555 member Jeff Monday said the Beach Bash is a community event and anyone is welcomed to attend. The event is free to attend, but there is a $5 fee to enter Oak Mountain State Park.
“We just want to get to know the community,” Monday said. “This is a way for us to say thank you to the community for the support we’ve received.”
The event will also include a raffle game and Post 555 T-shirts will be on sale. There will be a cornhole tournament, a DJ and food vendors at the event. There will also be a kids’ area that will feature games and inflatables.
Some of the proceeds from the event will be donated to the Legion’s Legacy Scholarship fund, which is reserved for the children of 50 percent disabled veterans and deceased veterans.
