University of Montevallo partnering with Birmingham to co-host NCAA DII National Championships in 2020, 2021

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The University of Montevallo will partner with the City of Birmingham to co-host the upcoming NCAA Division II National Championships in indoor track and field, swimming and diving and wrestling at the Birmingham Crossplex in 2020 and 2021.
“We are excited to partner with the City of Birmingham to serve as the co-host for student-athletes competing for NCAA Division II National Championships,” said University of Montevallo Athletic Director Mark Richard. “We look forward to helping provide a first-class championship experience at one of the best venues in the country.”
Montevallo will serve as the host for the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships on March 13-14, 2020 at the Birmingham Crossplex. The NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships will return one year later to the Crossplex along with the NCAA Division II Wrestling and Swimming and Diving National Championships as part of the NCAA Division II Winter Festival on March 8-13, 2021.
Birmingham is familiar with the NCAA Division II National Championships Festival, having hosted the winter event twice in 2013 and 2017. The first NCAA festival was held in Orlando, Florida in 2004. To date, almost 8,000 NCAA student-athletes have competed in the festival events, which are held every four years for fall, winter and spring championships.
