Wilbanks replaces Dr. Jason Yohn, who served as PHS principal from 2014-2017. Yohn has transitioned to the Pelham City Schools Central Office where he is currently working on special projects and district operations.

Wilbanks’ education and experience, dedication, proven track record and dynamic leadership style were among the traits that made her the ideal choice for the principal at PHS, according to the selection committee.

Wilbanks has served as PHS assistant principal since 2015. She holds Bachelor of Science degrees in biology and psychology and master’s degrees in business administration, secondary biology education and instructional leadership. She also holds an education specialist in instructional leadership degree and is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Education from Samford University.

“I am extremely excited about the opportunity to continue my career with Pelham City Schools as the principal at Pelham High School,” Wilbanks said. “I look forward to collaborating with students, staff, and parents to provide an innovative and engaging school environment that supports top-notch academics and enriching extracurricular and athletic opportunities for our students. I’m honored to have been chosen as the school’s next leader.”

The search for the assistant principal position at the high school is under way. In the meantime, Shannon Bogert and Justin Hefner are working with Wilbanks to fulfill the assistant principal responsibilities.
