Jimmie Hugh Vernon went home to be with the Lord Friday, April 7.

He owned and operated Jim’s Selected Eggs for 60 years and owned and operated Jim’s Greenhouse/Nursery with his wife.

Jimmie was an Army veteran and a Democrat. He was kind hearted, generous and loved his family.

He is survived by his daughter, Melissa Loveless (Kerry); two sons, Arthur Vernon (Kelly) and Jimmy Dale Vernon (Bridgette); grandchildren, Meghan Shiers, Trevor Shiers (Taylor), Kent Loveless, Katie Loveless, Nicole Vernon, Zachary Vernon and Shelby Watkins; and great-grandchildren, Aubrey Shiers and Rylan Smitherman.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 10 between 12-1 p.m. in the parlor of Rockco Funeral Home in Montevallo. A graveside service will be held Monday, April 10 at 2 p.m. in Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham.
