New York Times best-selling horror author Robert McCammon will offer a reading to the University of Montevallo community on April 10 at 3:30 p.m in Carmichael Library.

McCammon, a native of Birmingham, published his first novel in 1978 and has written approximately 20 original novels since.

He is the recipient of several Bram Stoker Awards. Some of his more notable works include “Boy’s Life,” “Mine” and “Speaks the Nightbird,” the first entry in the Matthew Corbett Series. There are more than four million copies of his books in print.

After reading a selection of his work, McCammon will take questions from the audience. Students who attend the event will receive one of the author’s novels courtesy of the UM President’s office.

After the event, Eclipse Coffee and Books will provide a reception sponsored by the UM Department of English and Foreign Languages.

“I always look forward to sharing my work and my interest in what may be called, among other things, off-beat literature and strange tales,” said McCammon. “I really do believe that no matter what an author in my field writes, truth can be stranger than fiction.”

The reading will begin at 3:30 p.m. in the J.A. Brown Room of Carmichael Library. Novels will be distributed on a first-come basis while supplies last.
