PELHAM – The 2017 Legacy Credit Union Women’s $25,000 Pro Circuit Tournament is coming to the Pelham Racquet Club for the 14th time April 8-15.
The professional tennis tournament features pro doubles and singles draws comprised of women from all over the world. The matches will begin at 10 a.m. daily. The singles final will begin at noon on Saturday, April 15.
The U.S. Tennis Association Pro Circuit was formed in 1979 to provide players with an opportunity to gain the professional ranking points they need to compete on the major pro tours, according to the USTA website.
It has grown into the largest developmental tennis circuit in the world, consisting of approximately 90 tournaments and offering nearly $3 million in prize money.
Racquet Club tournament director Chaney Mills said 100-150 spectators typically attend the tournament on each day, with more people attending on Legacy Kid’s Day. There is no cost for residents to attend the tournament.
Each night will have a different theme. Thursday, April 13, will be Rick and Bubba Night. The radio show hosts will attend the tourney to give out prizes and interact with the audience.
Saturday, April 15, will be Legacy Kid’s Day. Children will have an opportunity to participate in a free Kid’s Clinic from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Free hotdogs and drinks will be served.
There will be an Athleta Trunk Show every other day of the tournament, beginning on April 9.
Lunch and dinner will be available for purchase each day of the tournament.
