COLUMBIANA- First responders arrived on the scene of an accident on the 6,000 block of Shelby County 26 in Columbiana on the morning of Wednesday, March 29. According to reports from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, an 18-wheeler overturned at approximately 11 a.m.

The cause of the accident has yet to be determined, but police say weather was not a factor.

One injury and no deaths were reported. The victim was quickly transported to a nearby hospital via helicopter.

Shelby County 26 was closed from the intersection of 26 and Shelby County 331 and the entrance of Atchison Trace. Police encouraged the public to find an alternate route and expect traffic delays near the area.

Both lanes on Shelby County 26 were reopened as of 1:30 p.m.Deputies were still on the scene, and motorists are urged to remain cautious until debris on the road have been completely cleared.
