The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a shooting that took place on Shelby County 36 on Jan. 6. SCSO Captain Jeff Hartley said the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute between two family members.

According to Hartley, deputies arrived at a residence on the 4000 block of Shelby County 36 by 3 p.m.

Hartley said one person was shot and taken to a nearby hospital. Hartley described the person’s injuries as serious. The alleged perpetrator is currently in custody.

“Our investigation is ongoing. We want everybody to know that the scene is secure and nobody else is involved. It’s a sad situation.” Hartley said.
