Funeral services for Mr. Loyd L. Mehaffey, age 101, will be held Thursday, Jan. 5 at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Kilgroe Funeral Home. Interment will be at Vincent City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Jan. 4 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Mehaffey passed away Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Ruth Mehaffey; his daughters, Janette Tucker and Barbara Jane Bowyer; and a number of his cherished grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Loyd and Diana Mehaffey, Martin and Barbara Ann Brasher,Betty Sue (Bob) Bloom, and Jo Anne Copeland; as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

He was a World War II veteran and he received several medals including the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was a devoted family man that took care of his family. Mr. Mehaffey was a member of the Harpersville United Methodist Church and worked as a carpenter, as well as a roofer. He was a past master at the Bentley Lodge in Vincent and later transferred to the Ben M. Jacobs Lodge and the Chelsea Lodge. He was well known and loved throughout the Vincent community.
