Mark Regan Wortham
Mark Regan Wortham of Chelsea passed away Monday, Dec. 12. He was 56.
Mr. Wortham was born on Aug. 19, 1960, in Birmingham, the eldest child of Harold Wortham and Charlon Whisenhunt Wortham. He graduated from Chelsea High School in 1978 and married his life-long love, Sheila Thrasher Wortham, in 1982.
Mr. Wortham worked in the printing business and construction industry, most recently as a carpenter for Brasfield & Gorrie. But his life’s work and proudest accomplishment was his family. He was a teacher, a coach and a friend to his children; and he was everything to his wife.
Kind, considerate and generous to a fault, Mr. Wortham drew attention wherever he went, despite his gentle voice and preference for listening over talking. He had a natural talent for making everyone feel as if they were the only person in the room.
Mr. Wortham is preceded in death by his mother, Charlon Smith; and brother, Michael Wortham. He is survived by his wife, Sheila; children, Holly Wortham, Amy Cain (Brandon), Carly Wortham, Regan Wortham, Luke Wortham, and Chad Bartling (Darsey); father, Harold Wortham (Diane); sisters, Julie Wortham and April Collins (Robert); and grandchildren, Cecilia Cain and Luke and Elaina Bartling.
In memory of Mr. Wortham, the family requests that donations be made to Crisis Center Birmingham.
