HOW IT HAPPENED

Montevallo came out on fire in the second half as the Falcons pulled away from visiting Auburn-Montgomery in a 63-58 victory.

The Falcons trailed 11-9 after a slow first period by both teams. The cold-shooting extended into the second period as the Falcons failed to make a 3-point shot in the opening half.

However, Montevallo carried a one-point lead into the break at halftime after senior RayVon Christian made 4-of-6 free throws and finished with six points in the first half.

Christian had an even bigger second half in another impressive outing as she amassed 17 points and eight rebounds in the victory.

The 3-point shots started to fall in the second half for the Falcons, with junior Haven Albright leading the way with her 3-of-5 shooting from beyond the arc in the half.

Montevallo carried a commanding 49-42 lead into the fourth period.

The Warhawks fought back and stayed in the game thanks to Grace Farnsworth’s 21-point game. Ultimately, the Falcons held on by a score of 63-58 to improve to .500 on the season.

STAT OF THE GAME

Junior college transfer Alba Perez had her biggest game as a Falcon tonight as she scored 16 points and retrieved 17 rebounds to help Gary Van Atta’s team to their third win of a young season.
