Jean McClendon of Gardendale passed away Friday, Dec. 2.

The daughter of Lela (Fortenberry) and Carl L. Webb, Jean was born in Helena. She later moved with her family to Sayre, where she met her future husband, Virgil Andrew McClendon. Jean and Virgil were longtime residents of Gardendale.

Virgil, Jean’s beloved husband of 63 years, preceded her in death.

She is survived by their daughter, Teresa McClendon, of Gardendale.

Beloved wife, mother, and aunt, Jean is also survived by her niece, Dixie Haywood (Larry) McAdams; great nieces, Danielle (Kevin) Johnson and Delayna (Randy) Mullins; and great great niece and nephews, Adley, Kade, Kole, and Judson.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Marianthe Grammas, M.D., Geriatric Medicine Clinic of the University of Alabama and her staff, the staff and caregivers of Covenant Woods of Gardendale and Hope Hospice, Inc. for the specialized care and support provided to both Jean and her family.

Graveside service only in Oakwood Memorial Gardens, Gardendale, on Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 12 p.m.
