Betty Hutto McWilliams, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Nov. 23.

She was 87 years old. Mrs. McWilliams was lovingly known as “Mrs. Mac” from Pelham High School, having managed the lunchroom for 20 years.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Barnett McWilliams.

She is survived by her sons, William Barnett McWilliams II (Linda) of Birmingham and Michael Hutto McWilliams (Marley) of Montevallo; her daughters, Kelley McWilliams Chandler (Larry) of North Shelby County, and Kathy McWilliams Savage (Jerry) of Helena; her grandchildren, Dylan Barnett McWilliams and Jeremiah Dunbar McWilliams (Holley), Jason Quarles, Katie McWilliams Brannan (Adam), William Samuel McWilliams, Chelsea Chandler Roberts (David), William Dale Chase Chandler (Mackenzie), Michael Zachary Chandler (Lauren), Michael Ethan Savage, Jacob Chandler Savage, and Tucker McCoy Savage. She was great grandmother to Madelynn Joy McWilliams, Hudson Barnett McWilliams, Mary Austin McWilliams, Connor Mack Brannan, Charlotte Anne Roberts, Chandler Rebecca Roberts, Mary Caroline Roberts, Katherine Collier Roberts, Avery Mae Chandler, and Noah Isaac Chandler. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Katherine Pickens Travis; half-brother, Johnny Hutto and half-sister, Janie Ann Cooksey.

The funeral service for Mrs. McWilliams was Monday, Nov. 28 at 11 a.m. at the Anglican Church of the Holy Comforter, with burial at Elmwood Cemetery.

The family wishes to express deep gratitude to those involved, as well as the Pelham Police Department, in providing the escorted procession to Elmwood.

Her beauty, grace, love and giving heart will be greatly missed.
