HELENA–Griffin Farms of Helena located off Shelby County 17 will be celebrating the Halloween weekend by inviting the public out to the farm to enjoy a free concert.

Stickandstrum Academy is hosting their Student Concert at Griffin Farms of Helena on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 4-8 p.m.

The concert is free and is a fun, family-friendly way to spend Halloween weekend. There will also be a petting zoo, food trucks including That’s My Dawg! and Magic City Sweet Ice, a costume contest, games and live music from Stickandstrum Academy students.

Stickandstrum Academy is located in Riverchase and offers group and private lessons in guitar, drums, piano, voice and most other instruments.

Griffin Farms routinely hosts birthday parties, wedding receptions, baby showers, family reunions, corporate gathering and more on a weekly basis and will now be a concert venue.

The farm also has a large covered barn that serves as an outdoor venue with electricity throughout for when it gets dark.

Stickandstrum Academy opened three years ago and since then, the dream has been to hold a community festival where the academy students could perform and reach out to the community.

Stickandstrum Academy RockSchool classes are designed for beginners and advanced students and the Little Rockers classes provide a fun learning environment for kids ages 5 and under. The Academy describes itself as “a fun, laid-back studio with a great community of students.”

The concert will range from performances from beginner guitar and piano students to more advanced students that regularly play gigs around town at restaurants and community events. There will be live music going on all day and guests are free to check out the music from students, play games, pet the animals, or just hang out and enjoy the food from the food trucks. The academy plans to host this event each spring and fall with the intention of it being a fun day for the whole community, not just for our students.
