Calera beats Jemison in straight sets

After beating area opponent Jemison 25-19, 25-15, 25-19 on Monday night, the Lady Eagles moved to 11-3 (3-0) on the season. Johnna Robinson finished with 11 kills and three blocks, Hannah Marling had seven kills and 19 digs while Bria Haynes had seven kills, three aces and four blocks to lead the way for the Lady Eagles, who are currently in first place in their area.

Springs loses to Alexandria in tri-match

Indian Springs hosted a tri-match on Monday evening, welcoming in visiting Alexandria and Walter Welbourne. Springs fell to Alexandria 2-0, and scores from the Walter Welbourne match were unavailable.

 

Sept. 20

Briarwood defeats Sylacauga in area match

The Lady Lions advanced to 9-7 (2-0) on the year after taking down Sylacauga in straight sets 25-20, 25-17, 25-20. Alex O’Brien had 19 assists, three aces and three digs in the game, Grace Patterson had 10 kills, one ace and a block and Kolbi Reed had four kills, three aces and seven digs to lead Briarwood. With the win, Briarwood jumped to 2-0 in 5A Area 8.

Chelsea beats Pelham in area showdown

Pelham hosted area foe Chelsea on Tuesday night for a crucial area match, and the Lady Panthers could not match the Lady Hornets as Chelsea walked away with a straight set, 25-21, 25-23, 25-18 win. Each set was close, and Pelham pushed the Lady Hornets to the brink in the second set, but Chelsea hung tough and got the win. With the win Chelsea moves to 15-5 (1-1) according to C2C.com while Pelham falls to 11-15 (0-1).

Thompson falls to Hoover

Thompson traveled to take on 7A Area 5 foe Hoover on Tuesday, and was turned away with a straight set loss. The Lady Bucs turned Thompson away by a score of 25-14, 25-14, 25-22. The Lady Warriors showed spunk in the last frame, but couldn’t begin to mount a comeback. Hoover moved to 23-7 with the win while Thompson fell to 5-14 (0-2).

Spain Park falls to Mountain Brook in tight contest

Spain Park welcomed in 7A Area 6 opponent Mountain Brook on Tuesday night for an important area matchup, and after a long, epic, five-set match, the Lady Jags came out on the wrong side of the outcome, losing 19-25, 26-24, 15-25, 25-21, 13-15. With the loss Spain Park falls to 13-7 (1-1) on the year.

Montevallo falls to Isabella

The Lady Bulldogs from Montevallo dropped their second game in a row on Tuesday night to move to 4-8 (1-2) on the season according to C2C.com. Montevallo fell in straight sets, 3-0, at Isabella, marking the eighth time this season the Lady Bulldogs have failed to win a set.

Vincent drops game at Alabama School for the Deaf

The Lady Yellow Jackets traveled to take on the Alabama School for the Deaf on Tuesday night and the tough volleyball season continued for Vincent, as the Lady Yellow Jackets fell to 0-10 with a 3-0 loss.
