HELENA–In just a few weeks, the Helena High School varsity football team will celebrate Homecoming when the Opelika Bulldogs come to town on Sept. 30, and that means the return of the Paint the Town Husky contest.
Before the game begins, the entire community is encouraged to participate in sprit week, which is set for Sept. 26-30.
The Paint the Town Husky contest gives local businesses the chance to show off their Husky pride by participating in a friendly competition to determine which business shows off the most spirit in the form of decorations.
Businesses that register for the Paint the Town Husky contest are encouraged to be creative and decorate their storefronts using the theme “Put’em in the Pound.”
APH Radio and the Helena Athletic Association are sponsoring the contest and judges will be coming around to various businesses during spirit week to vote and determine which business displayed the most HHS spirit.
There is no cost to register, but businesses wishing to participate in the contest must register no later than Saturday, Sept. 24.
A few incentives for businesses to participate in the contest includes; a mention for your business on the PA system at the game for participating in the contest, a large shout out to the winner of the contest at the game, the winner will receive a special Husky gift and certificate, pictures of all the businesses participating will be uploaded to Facebook, APH Radio will give a shout out to each business participating during the game and the contest is free.
