Briarwood takes out Woodlawn

The Lady Lions took on Woodlawn on Tuesday night and got an easy 3-0 win, downing Woodlawn 25-21, 25-12, 25-7. Alex O’Brien had eight assists, five digs and a kill while Grace Mulvaney had seven digs, five aces and two kills and Kolbi Reed had four kills and five digs in the win.

 

Pelham downs Benjamin Russell

In the Lady Panthers’ quest to get back to .500, Pelham took a step in the right direction on Tuesday night with a convincing 3-0 win over Benjamin Russell via a 25-10, 25-16, 25-7 final. Emorie Long had eight kills for Pelham, Katie Monti had 11 digs and Georgia Stonicher had 24 assists to lead the Lady Panthers as Pelham moved to 7-10 on the year.

 

Lady Eagles fall to Hoover

Oak Mountain fell to 7-6 on the year with a three-set loss to visiting area opponent Hoover on Tuesday night. The Lady Eagles lost in a three-set match, 25-15, 25-16, 25-18 at home.

 

Calera beats McAdory handily

The Lady Eagles of Calera beat McAdory High School 3-0 on Tuesday night, and moved to 3-1 on the season according to C2C.com. Calera’s next match will be against Shelby County on Sept. 12 on the road. The Lady Eagles are 1-0 against the Lady Wildcats this season.

 

Helena splits tri-match with Central, Hillcrest

The Lady Huskies from Helena traveled to Central-Tuscaloosa High School to take on the Central-Tuscaloosa Lady Falcons and the Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa Lady Patriots in tri-match play. Helena took on the host team first, and beat the Lady Falcons 2-0 before the Lady Huskies played Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa and lost by a final of 2-1. The 1-1 outcome at the tri-match event moved Helena to 3-6 on the season, which was an improvement from its 0-5 start.

 

Vincent loses to Victory Christian

The Vincent Lady Yellow Jackets traveled to take on Victory Christian School on Tuesday night and were turned away with a 3-0 loss. The Lady Yellow Jackets are still in search of their first win of the year, as the loss to Victory Christian moved them to 0-6.

 

Sept. 7

Spain Park takes down Thompson in five sets

In one of the best matchups of the early volleyball season, Spain Park traveled to take on Thompson in an early-season Region 5 vs. Region 6 match. After a long, five-set slog, the Lady Jags advanced to 7-4 on the season with a 3-2 win.
