NORTH SHELBY – A Shelby County man has been arrested and charged with sexually abusing a child, among other charges.

Shade Edwin Gable, 35, of Cahaba Valley Road in Birmingham has been charged with sexual abuse of a child less than 12 and two counts of sodomy.

The crimes, all of which are felonies, are alleged to have been committed in May.

Bonds for the crimes include $150,000 for the sexual abuse charge and $60,000 for each of the sodomy charges, for a total of $270,000.

Gable was booked into Shelby County Jail on Aug. 31 and remained in custody as of the afternoon of Tuesday, Sept. 6.

Gable’s preliminary hearing is set for 8:30 a.m. Oct. 5 in the District Court of Shelby County.
