HARPERSVILLE – Two Harpersville businesses were apparently hit by the same group of burglars on the same night, Police Chief Jimmy Macon said.
Four suspects broke into Big Man’s restaurant and then Stoney’s Custom Iron and Woodwork on July 26.
Macon said the first incident was shortly after midnight, according to surveillance video.
The video shows four subjects—believed to be one white female, one black male and two white males—but does not provide a clear enough image to be able to develop identities, Macon said, as the subjects wore hooded shirts.
“We do have some persons of interest; we just haven’t had a chance to find them,” Macon said.
A television and about $500 cash was stolen. When combined with damage caused to the property during the break-in, the victim lost about $3,000, Macon said.
A firearm was also taken but dropped at the crime scene.
“I guess he was in a hurry to get out of there,” Macon said.
A firearm was taken from Stoney’s, but little else.
The second business is close by the first, and both are off Alabama 25.
Anyone with knowledge of the incidents should call Macon at 739-4025.
