Chelsea woman dies after collision with train

CHELSEA – A Chelsea woman has died following a crash with a CSX train at a railroad crossing on Chelsea Road, south of Chelsea city limits.
Bernadette Shires, 39, was driving a 2009 Lexus when it collided with the train at 11:50 p.m. July 24, according to an Alabama State Troopers press release.
Shires was transported to Grandview Medical Center, where she later was pronounced dead.
Alabama State Troopers are continuing an investigation of the crash.
