PELHAM— The official faculty and staff list for Pelham Oak and Pelham Ridge Elementary schools have been approved after a unanimous decision by the Pelham Board of Education June 13.
The transfer includes 135 reassignments to the staff, and Superintendent Dr. Scott Coefield said each staff member voluntarily transferred to their new position.
“I’m not sure you could move 135 plants from your front yard to your back yard as smoothly as this has been done,” said Board President Rick Rhoades. “I really want to compliment our administration and our teachers for making this move so, so smoothly.”
All students in neighborhoods below County Road 52 who are north of County Road 68 and east of U.S. 31 are zoned to attend Pelham Oaks, formerly Valley Intermediate School.
Faculty members assigned to Pelham Oaks will move into the Valley Intermediate building over the summer with plans to begin the new school year Aug. 11.
Students in neighborhoods on County Road 11 and south of County Road 52 will attend Pelham Ridge Elementary, the new elementary school located at 251 Applegate Parkway.
This also includes students living in Brookshire, Eagle Cove and Mallard Point neighborhoods as well as neighborhoods on County Road 72, County Road 361, County Road 68 and Green Park South.
Faculty members assigned to Pelham Ridge Elementary School will begin the 2016-2017 school year in the Valley Elementary School building on Aug. 11. About 10 weeks of delays in construction led to the necessity of utilizing VES.
Pelham Ridge is scheduled to be complete on Sept. 7, and Coefield said the plan is to transition all faculty and students zoned for Pelham Ridge Elementary into the new building during the fall break on Oct. 10.
