MT LAUREL – Show and Go is hosted by Safehouse and benefits different projects and needs for the organization. Safehouse Executive Director Erin Bodden said they have been able to raise more than $16,000 in the past two years.
Bodden said they were looking for a new location for the car show and the partnership with Mt Laurel came at a perfect time.
“We thought the downtown area would have appeal with the shops and restaurants,” Bodden said. “And they had been thinking about bringing in a car show, so it worked out great.”
The free event will have something for everyone in the family. The event begins Saturday evening at 4 p.m. with a Sock Hop featuring live music from the Ben Guthrie Band. Bodden said it’s a great event to “make an evening out of.”
Along with the live music and local shops and dining, the main course of the event is the classic and custom car show.
Bodden said they have been pleased with the amount of cars in the past and expect a good turnout this year. Any car is welcome to participate in the show and registration fees will be required for any participating vehicles. Participants may enter their vehicles for judging, and trophies will be presented in various categories based on different aspects of the car.
Bodden said she was inspired to do a car show after growing up attending them and admiring her dad’s own classic vehicle.
“We wanted to do something a little different than the other fundraisers you see around,” Bodden said.
