Douglas Wright Jones, “Chief Jones,” age 59, of Helena, was called home to be with our Lord on Friday, May 20, when his good works on this earth were finished.
He was preceded in death by his adored parents, Percy Wright Jones and Mattie Melba Davis Jones of Helena, and beloved sister, Peggy Joyce Jones Harpst.
He is survived by his cherished wife, Melissa Davenport Jones; brother, William “Bill” Jones (Lori) of Fort Worth, Texas; sons, Ross Naish, Justin Klepin and Kyle Jones; numerous nieces and nephews, countless friends, and the extended family of the Helena Police force.
Chief Jones served the City of Helena for 34 years in law enforcement until his retirement in September 2015.
Visitation begins Friday, May 27 at 10 a.m. at the Helena United Methodist Church immediately followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. officiated by Pastor Tommy Morgan with opportunities for friends to offer tributes and followed by a last call salute.
In lieu of flowers, Chief Jones’ family request donations to benefit the City of Helena K-9 Fund.
