According to a release from Vincent PD, police responded to reports of a gunshot injury on Fleming Road at approximately 9:30 p.m. on May 19. Upon arrival, responders found Cohill had already succumbed to a gunshot injury.

Witnesses reported Cohill had been involved in an altercation with Rodney Brown, who is now being held at the Shelby County Jail on bonds totaling $500,000.

The District Attorney’s Office recommended the bond amount for Brown, who lists an address on Fleming Lane in Vincent, noting multiple witnesses to the alleged incident and a previous shooting in Childersburg.

“The defendant was recently involved in an incident in Childersburg in which he shot another person, and it is believe by law enforcement that Mr. Brown is a danger to the public,” the DA wrote in a bond recommendation form.

This incident is still under investigation and more information will be released as it becomes available. The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and the Harpersville Police Department were also involved in the investigation.

According to Alabama state law, murder/manslaughter is a Class A felony. If convicted, Brown could face up to life in prison.
