Grab a lawn chair and enjoy a relaxing Sunday afternoon at Jazz in the Park.
Brought to you by the City of Alabaster, Magic City Smooth Jazz and the Shelby County Arts Council, this free event will take place on Sunday, May 1 from 4-9 p.m. at the city of Alabaster’s Municipal Complex Green.
Enjoy music from headliners The Rhythm Jets. Though new on the scene as a unit, the members of this explosive six-piece, Atlanta-based, instrumental band are all veteran musicians with mile-long resumes.
Joining forces to release their debut EP SOUND BARRIER, Rhythm Jets have created a musical signature they refer to as “Infinity Jazz … not smooth, not traditional … taking you where you’ve never been with rhythm and sax.”
Rhythm Jets hit a cruising altitude for the perfect soundtrack to an island destination, full of pulsating rhythms, edgy guitars, funky sax and glorious pop breezes.
The Shelby County Arts Council and Magic City Smooth Jazz share a dedicated mission of enhancing art and cultural activities in our communities.
Joining with the city of Alabaster, this Jazz in the Park event is the first one for Shelby County.
Shelby County Arts Council Executive Director Bruce Andrews shared his vision for the event: “Although located in the county seat of Columbiana, we serve all of Shelby County. We are focused on bringing top talent to the area for citizens to experience. We nurture, support and promote artists across the spectrum of visual and performance art. Jazz in the Park is just one of many ways we reach out to the community with the hopes of educating, inspiring and entertaining within the Arts.”
