Calera man facing rape, sodomy charges

CALERA— The Calera Police Department arrested 19-year-old Quamayne Deshawn Tyes March 26 and charged him with second-degree rape and second-degree sodomy related to a 2015 incident.
According to his arrest warrant, Tyes, who lists an address on Creek Run Way in Calera, allegedly engaged in “deviate sexual intercourse” with a female victim who was between 16 and 12 years of age.
The warrant states the incident allegedly took place between October and November 2015, when Tyes was above the age of 16 and more than two years older than the victim.
Tyes was arrested and transported to the Shelby County Jail where he is being held on bonds totaling $30,000.
Second-degree rape and second-degree sodomy are both Class B felonies, carrying a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
