FROM STAFF REPORTS

NORTH SHELBY – The Student Council at Oak Mountain Intermediate School recently sponsored a food drive to benefit Oak Mountain Missions. Fourth and fifth grade students brought in canned goods, hygiene products and household goods during the week of March 7-10.

The OMIS students collected more than 2,000 items, which were sorted and packed into more than 50 boxes.

The items collected by the OMIS students replenished the nearly empty shelves at Oak Mountain Missions.

The Oak Mountain Missions Staff said they had never received so many items from one school before and were grateful to the OMIS students for the donation.

The students, in turn, learned that when many people each contribute a little, they can make a big difference in the community.
