PELHAM— A 28-year-old man, who prosecutors say is living in the United States illegally, is facing two felony charges related to child pornography after he was arrested by the Pelham Police Department March 4.
Cesar Perez-Valdez, who lists an address on University Park in Montevallo, was charged with felony counts of dissemination of child pornography and possession of child pornography after allegedly circulating a video of a young woman under the age of 17 on Jan. 17.
Court documents stated that the video of a young female was uploaded to a file-sharing network called “Ares peer to peer file sharing network.”
Following his arrest, the district attorney recommended Perez-Valdez be held on bonds totaling $250,000.
According to the district attorney, the suspect is here illegally and has no ties to the community, is considered a flight risk, has been deported twice from the United States and additional charges of the same nature may be filed in the future.
Dissemination of child pornography is a Class B felony and possession of child pornography is a Class C felony. According to Alabama state law, Class B felonies carry a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, and Class C felonies carry a maximum sentence of two years in prison.
