HOOVER—As soon as you start talking to her, it’s apparent that Rose Fraser knows hair. After more than 35 years in the industry Fraser knows how to match each person with their perfect style, cut and color.
Fraser started cutting hair at 17-years-old, and at 22 she opened her own salon, Hair Reflections, on Valleydale Road. The salon was then located at the Summit for 16 years.
“I wanted to make people look good and feel good,” Fraser said of the inspiration for her career.
Fraser has traveled the world with her career, from training in Paris to styling at New York City’s Fashion Week. She has styled clients from actresses Coco Austin and Kirstie Alley to everyday moms.
The salon is also a member of Intercoiffure, an international organization of salons.
Fraser is bringing her top-of-the-industry salon to Hoover’s The Village at Lee Branch Shopping Center. Hair Reflections, located next to Five Guys restaurant, is scheduled to open in the coming weeks.
Whether a celebrity or the girl next door, Fraser treats every client the same. Each appointment begins with a consultation. Fraser and her staff of stylists sit down with each guest to determine what cut and style will fit their life.
“A great consultation, I’d say that’s one of our fortes,” Fraser said. “I think the most important thing about making someone happy is (learning) what’s important to them about their hair.”
Taking in to account the client’s desires, face shape and coloring, Fraser and her staff create a personalized cut, dye and style. Hair Reflections even has a line of products to help customers maintain their color and style after leaving the salon.
The care and attention of the Fraser and the Hair Reflections stylists have built up a loyal base of regular customers, some of whom travel from as far as Georgia, Tennessee and Mississippi to have their hair styled.
“We have a lot of clients who came to me before I even opened the salon,” Fraser said.
Fraser said she is excited to open in Lee Branch.
“This is my home,” Fraser said. “I think we’re going to bring the best salon in the world (to Lee Branch).”
