PELHAM— The Shelby County Drug Enforcement Taskforce arrested 24-year-old Jeffery Cash Feb. 10 after allegedly finding approximately 108.5 grams of cocaine in his possession at a hotel in the 1900 block of U.S. 31 South in Pelham, according to Task Force Commander Lt. Clay Hammac.
Cash, who lists an address in the 200 block of McDanal Drive in Pell City, was charged with felony counts of trafficking cocaine and possession of a controlled substance as well as misdemeanor counts of second-degree possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
Hammac said the suspect was allegedly armed at the time of his arrest and was also allegedly in possession of a suboxone strip, one white pill, marijuana and two digital scales.
This is an ongoing investigation, according to Hammac, and the SCDETF anticipates additional charges being filed against the suspect.
Cash is currently being held in the Shelby County jail on bonds totaling $372,000.
Trafficking cocaine is a Class A felony, possession of a controlled substance is a Class C felony and second-degree possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia are Class A misdemeanor.
According to Alabama state law, the maximum sentence for a Class A felony is life in prison.
