Oak Mountain takes down Spain Park

The Eagles of Oak Mountain traveled the five minutes on Caldwell Mill Road to pay a visit to in-county opponent Spain Park. The No. 9 Eagles (18-7, 5-1) took down the No. 3 Jaguars (17-9, 5-1) by a final score of 67-58, and never trailed in the second half, making 12 of 13 free throws in the fourth quarter to ice the game. Will Stephenson led Oak Mountain with 21 points and five boards while Wyatt Armstrong added 12 points and six rebounds. Austin Wiley of Spain Park led all scorers with 26 points and had eight rebounds as well.

 

Vincent falls at Altamont

The top seeded team in 2A traveled to face the No. 6 team in the class when Vincent went to go pay Altamont a visit on Tuesday night. The Yellow Jackets could not muster up enough offense in the first half, falling behind by 12 at the break, which was a deficit too large for them to overcome. Vincent lost by a final of 49-41 to fall to 19-5. Terrell Calhoun was the only Yellow Jacket in double figures as he scored 11, but Ben Murray of Altamont stole the show with 28 points.

 

Panthers get past Vestavia Hills

Alex Reese scored 32 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in Pelham’s win over Vestavia Hills on Tuesday night. The junior was good for 61 percent of Pelham’s 51 points. Pelham moved to 15-10 on the year with the win.

 

Lady Jags beat Oak Mountain

After losing back-to-back games to Hazel Green and Mountain Brook in back-to-back days, the Lady Jaguars have now won two games in two days to get back on track. After beating Vestavia by 31 points on Jan. 25 to finish the regular season with a 4-2 area record, Spain Park beat in-county opponent Oak Mountain by a final score of 46-25 just 24 hours later to move to 14-10 on the season.

 

Pelham girls get win

The Lady Panthers had not won a game since Dec. 29 against Vincent and were 0-7 in their last seven attempts. But Pelham held Vestavia to just 18 points over the first three quarters of their game Tuesday night, and won by a final of 50-31. Jordan Allison scored 13 points to lead all scorers while Emorie Long added 12 and Jamila Wilson had 11.
