CALERA— The Roy Downs Memorial Library in Calera is hosting several upcoming events for the community, starting Jan. 26 with a meeting of the Adult Book Club.
Last month’s book was “A Soft Rebel Yell: From Grits to Gotham” by Philomene Gates, and the book club will meet at 6 p.m. to discuss the novel, according to a release from the library.
The release states that everyone is welcome to attend the meeting, even if they have not read the book. The next book of the month will be available for checkout after the book club meeting.
Children of all ages are invited to attend one of Miss Annie’s Educational Adventures Feb. 3 at 11:30 a.m. The program is called The Snowflake Men, according to the release, and it will teach children about snow, snowflakes and the “real” snowflake men.
The session is free, but attendees should register by Feb. 1 to save their spot.
The children’s program will continue with a Valentine Tea Party Feb. 13. Parents and children are invited to celebrate Valentine’s Day with refreshments, holiday themed crafts and posed pictures.
The tea party costs $5 per person, and registration is due by Feb. 8. The party begins at 11 a.m. The release states that there are a limited number of spaces, which will be given out in a first-come-first-serve basis.
