HOOVER—Learn to cook like a master chef at St. Vincent’s One Nineteen. Birmingham-area chef Jon Holland will lead this month’s edition of Cuisine at One Nineteen on Jan. 21 at 6 p.m.
Holland, owner of the Fig Tree Cafe in Cahaba Heights, will share several of his own recipes during the hour-and-a-half program, starting with an eggplant dip appetizer—served hot to warm up cool winter evenings.
Holland will also make a mustard and rosemary-rubbed quail accompanied by Hoppin’ John, and a healthy version of the classic shrimp and grits dish.
Although they sound complicated, each recipe is actually “very simple” and easy to replicate at home, St. Vincent’s One Nineteen registered dietitian Donna Sibley said.
“These are very simple recipes,” Sibley said, noting each dish will also be healthy. “(The Fig Tree Cafe) has a very upscale menu featuring some very healthy things.”
Guests will have the opportunity to sample each of Holland’s dishes, and at the end of the evening, they will receive a copy of each recipe made.
Guests are invited to bring a bottle of wine and enjoy the relaxing and casual evening with friends.
Cuisine at One Nineteen is a regular monthly program at St. Vincent’s One Nineteen. Each month features a new chef and their own recipes.
