Shelby County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Britton Clayton Taylor, 33, on Dec. 20 on charges related to thefts at Target on Grove Boulevard in June and November, and Target on U.S. 280 in November, according to a Hoover Police Department press release.

In three different incidents, a white male suspect wearing either a mask or a baseball cap with a wig attached reportedly shoplifted numerous items from the stores.

The suspect allegedly stole 46 boxes of Crest teeth-whitening products and four boxes of Front Line flea and tick medication valued at $2,805 from Target on Grove Boulevard on June 17 before fleeing in a white Porsche.

The same suspect allegedly stole 31 boxes of Crest teeth-whitening products valued at $1,274 from Target on U.S. 280 on Nov. 5 before fleeing in a white Porsche again.

The suspect stole 49 boxes of Crest products valued at $1,854 from Target on Grove Boulevard on Nov. 11 and fled in a white Porsche again, according to the release.

Traylor’s new charges include first-degree theft ($30,000 bond), second-degree theft ($15,000 bond) and second-degree theft ($5,000 bond).

His bonds total $50,000.

Traylor was taken to the Shelby County Jail, and after posting bond, he was transferred to the Jefferson County Jail in Bessemer, where he also has posted bond.

The theft cases remained unsolved until Traylor was arrested Nov. 30 in an armed robbery attempt at the movie theater, located on Doug Baker Boulevard.

Traylor allegedly entered the theater wearing a life-like mask and forced the theater’s assistant manager, at gunpoint, to empty the safe. The assistant manager and a Good Samaritan held the suspect to the ground until law enforcement arrived.

Traylor was charged with one count of first-degree robbery, a Class A felony.

Officers recovered the mask, wig and other items linking him to the shoplifting cases.
