ALABASTER – A 31-year-old Alabaster woman will spend the next year in the Shelby County Work Release program after she pleaded guilty to illegally possessing methamphetamine precursors in late 2014.
Deliska White, who lists an address on Woodbrook Circle in Alabaster, pleaded guilty to one count of possession or sale of precursor chemicals during a Dec. 3 hearing in front of Shelby County Circuit Court Judge Dan Reeves.
Possession or sale of precursor chemicals is a Class B felony, according to Alabama law, and carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.
As a result of her guilty plea, Reeves sentenced White to 10 years in prison, but split the sentence to one year in the Shelby County Work Release program followed by two years of supervised probation. She received 43 days of jail credit for time served in the Shelby County Jail between her October arrest and her sentencing date.
While on probation, White must take and pass random drug and alcohol screens.
The Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force arrested White on Oct. 22 and charged her with six counts of possession or sale of precursor chemicals.
Five of White’s possession or sale of precursor chemicals charges were dropped through a plea agreement with prosecutors.
According to her arrest warrant, White was found to be in possession of the chemicals methylenedioxyphenyl and propanone, both of which are used to make methamphetamine.
When she was arrested on the drug precursor charges, White was on probation for a felony theft of property charge she pleaded guilty to in 2011 after stealing a refrigerator from an apartment complex.
When she pleaded guilty to the drug precursor charge, White’s probation was revoked for her theft charge, and she was ordered to serve 12 months in the Shelby County Work Release program. She will serve both her sentences concurrently.
