HARPERSVILLE—Barbara Adkins, owner of Black Sheep Antiques in Harpersville, has a knack for bringing together the vintage and the new. Her shop offers a variety of unique antique pieces alongside contemporary artwork. On Nov. 14, Black Sheep Antiques hosted a book signing with Atlanta-based interior designer Barbara Westbrook.
Westbrook is known for her clean and elegant style, complete with vintage touches.
“It just fits in with the whole theme of the shop,” Adkins said. “She uses a lot of the same kind of things that I like.”
Westbrook has designed a range of home interiors. While the settings range from modern to rustic, all of her work displays her signature “clean and simple” style complimented by vintage patina, Westbrook explained.
“It gives it character,” Westbrook said of her antique touches. “There’s an elegance to it.”
The visit to Black Sheep Antiques was Westbrook’s first visit to Harpersville.
“It’s beautiful,” Westbrook said of the town.
On Nov. 14, Westbrook mingled and chatted with guests and signed her new book, “Gracious Rooms.” Guests also enjoyed a variety of hors d’oeuvres and beverages, and browsed the unique collection of items at Black Sheep Antiques.
“We’re so lucky to have (Westbrook) here in Harpersville,” Adkins said. “It’s been great, it’s been a great day.”
Black Sheep Antiques is located at 39509 Highway 25. It is open Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
