PELHAM— To celebrate the giving spirit of the holiday season, Bahama Buck’s has declared Dec. 1 as Free Sno Day. The restaurant will be kicking off December by giving a free Sno to each guest that visits.

“It’s something we use to bless our guests in a time of year people aren’t usually thinking about shaved ice,” said Jay Yarborough, franchise owner of the Bahama Buck’s Original Shaved Ice Company locations in Pelham and Cahaba Heights.

Bahama Buck’s has been around for 25 years, and Yarborough said this Sno Day has been a tradition since the beginning. Since the Pelham location just opened up in May, this will be its first year participating.

“I’m excited about the Free Sno Day just to get the name out there for Bahama Buck’s (in Birmingham),” Yarborough said.

Bahama Buck’s serves tropical desserts, promoting the “Greatest Sno on Earth,” as well as fresh blended tropical smoothies. Founded in 1990 in Texas, Bahama Buck’s is growing in popularity around the nation, according to Yarborough.

On Free Sno Day, guests can bring the whole family for free Snos from 1-9 p.m. at either the Pelham or Vestavia location.

In addition to Free Sno Day, Yarborough said the Birmingham Bahama Buck’s have also partnered with 32 surrounding schools in Shelby and Jefferson counties. Through its Buck’s Encouraging Education Program, Bahama Buck’s has donated more than $800 to those schools.

Yarborough said he has also hosted numerous benefit, or spirit, nights for schools and has donated to multiple fall and spring festivals.  Each May, Bahama Buck’s also provides free products and thank you cards to teachers for National Teacher Appreciation Week.

“We’ve been tremendously blessed this year, and we want to pass that on to the communities we proudly serve,” says Blake Buchanan, founder and president of Bahama Buck’s Franchise Corporation.  “We are excited to enter into this Christmas season by blessing those that we consider family — our guests.  It’s a day we look forward to all year.”
