James William Anderson, age 70, of Calera, died Wednesday, Nov. 4.

The memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 14 at New Shelby Cemetery.

Mr. Anderson was born on December 10, 1944. He attended Bibb County High School and played college football at Livingston (University of West Alabama). He taught and coached high school football throughout Alabama and Florida. He was a man of many jobs but, most of all, James loved working with fellow coaches and high school football players. He loved his family and sponsoring senior citizens before becoming ill.

Mr. Anderson is preceded in death by parents, Ernestine and Alfred Anderson; brother, Alfred Anderson; sisters, Mary Nell Nettles and Alpha Motley; brothers-in-law, John Motley and Don Wilson.

He is survived by his wife, Celia Pate Anderson; daughter, Tiffany Anderson; son, Darrin Ellis (Paige); grandsons, Connor Anderson, Jack Ellis, and Sam Ellis; sisters, Angie Weeks (Lawrence), and Glannie Wilson; brothers, Johnny Anderson (Jan), and Greg Anderson (Kaye); brother-in-law, Gene Nettles; nephews, Allen, Andy, Al, Joe, Bryant, Taylor, Jay, Hill; nieces, Sharon, Vickie, Cathy, Ladonna, Mariam; and a host of great nieces, nephews and numerous other family and friends.
