WILSONVILLE— Only one event in Wilsonville combines pancakes, artwork and colonial tableaus: Wilsonville Civitan Club’s Pancake Supper Art Show Fundraiser.
This year, the annual event will be Nov. 19 from 5-7 p.m. and will serve as a fundraiser for both Wilsonville Elementary School and Wilsonville Civitan Club.
“Just seeing the whole community together (is my favorite part),” club member Anne Phelps said.
Students from Wilsonville Elementary will submit artwork that will be judged for first, second and third place, according to Phelps. Each of the placing pieces will be displayed in city hall.
Families will notice artwork displayed on all the walls when they walk into the room. The winning pieces will have already have ribbons, and Phelps said they will also award Best in Show.
Club members and volunteers from the school will prepare a dinner of pancakes and bacon, served with coffee and milk. Phelps said there might be other beverage options as well.
She said people usually come in, enjoy dinner and walk around viewing all the artwork submitted by the students.
New this year are Thanksgiving Tableaus, small presentations prepared by the students based on colonial times. There will be three presentations, and each time someone donates money, the students will come to life and explain the presentation.
“They love it,” Phelps said. “They all have a blast and they love standing by their pictures. They’re families take photos of them.”
She said it is a good night filled with good food and art, and everyone in the community is invited to come.
Wilsonville Civitan Club meets the first and third Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. Wilsonville United Methodist Christian Life Center.
The group is dedicated to helping people in their own communities, from collecting food for homeless shelters to volunteering at local retirement home to building playgrounds.
The Pancake Supper and Art Show Fundraiser is $6 for adults and $3 for children 10 and under.
