Howell sets school record for doubles’ victories in UAH Round Up

HUNTSVILLE– University of Montevallo senior Allison Howell set a new school record for career doubles’ victories after recording three wins with freshman teammate Alice Copland at the UAH Round Up over the weekend.
Howell and Copland went 3-1 in the Round Up, improving their record to 5-1 through fall competition. Howell now owns 42 victories in doubles’ competition, eclipsing the previous mark of 40 wins by Niki Polcerova.
Howell and Copland defeated Sierra Brown and Sara Watson of the University of West Georgia 8-4, giving Howell the new school record. The pairing also topped duos from Alabama A&M University and the University of North Alabama in doubles’ competition.
Freshman Julia Berg finished 2-1 in singles’ action over the weekend, improving her season record to 4-1. Berg defeated Whitney Maples of West Georgia 6-4, 6-0 and topped Orianna Rodriguez of Alabama A&M 6-3, 6-2 in singles’ action.
Fellow freshman Alina Munteanu also finished 2-1 in the event. Munteanu defeated Sara Watson of West Georgia 7-5, 6-2 and topped Juma Mukhambetova of the University of Tennesee-Martin 6-3, 6-2.
The Falcons have completed the fall portion of their schedule and will return to action in their spring openerJanuary 30 at Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama.
