BIRMINGHAM – The parent company of Alabaster’s Shelby Baptist Medical Center has created a new oversight organization, and has named a former Baptist Health System vice president as its new chief executive officer.
Through its merger with the Tenet Healthcare Corporation, which was finalized on Oct. 2, Baptist Health System is forming a Legacy BHS organization, which “will oversee the ongoing mission of the Baptist Health Foundation and provide oversight for BHS investments,” according to a company statement issued on Oct. 7.
The BHS board of directors has named former BHS Vice President of Finance and Accounting Amy Allen as the president and CEO of the new Legacy organization.
“Amy has been a trusted member of the BHS team for nearly 20 years, and has held several key roles, including vice president of audit services and vice president/chief accounting officer, which uniquely position her to lead Legacy BHS,” BHS board of trustees Chairman John Holcomb wrote in a statement. “Her expertise and leadership, combined with her knowledge of BHS, make her an excellent choice for this important role.”
Allen is a 1990 graduate of Auburn University, where she earned a bachelor’s in accounting and subsequently achieved her certified public accountant certification. She is a member of Dawson Baptist Church in Birmingham, for which she serves on the finance committee. Allen currently is a member of the Junior League of Birmingham, and is a past member of the Service Guild.
As leader of the Legacy BHS organization, Allen will set short- and long-term goals and performance expectations for Baptist Health Systems and the Baptist Health Foundation. She recently helped to negotiate the joint venture between BHS and Tenet on behalf of BHS.
