Jerry Earnest and Cynthia Earnest Scebra of Birmingham announce the engagement of their daughter, Heather Leigh Earnest, to David James Barnes, son of Renee Barnes and Michael Barnes of Shelby.

Heather is the granddaughter of Lille Culpepper and the late Julius Earl Toy of Opelika, and Edna Faye Earnest and Hugh Lee Earnest of Fort Payne.

Heather is a 2004 graduate of Fort Payne High School and a graduate of Jefferson State Community College, where she majored in medical coding.

David is the grandson of the late Lattrelle Suell and the late James Suell of Jemison, and the late Bertha Barnes and the late David Barnes of Shelby.

David is a 2008 graduate of Shelby County High School and a graduate of Shelton State Community College, where he majored in construction.

He is employed with Brasfield & Gorrie.

The couple will wed on June 18, 2016.
