FROM STAFF REPORTS

HOOVER—The Garden at Danberry Memory Care Neighborhood will open and begin accepting residents on Sept. 22.

The neighborhood consists of 24 private studios, as well as a range of amenities, services and innovate enhancement stations designed to feel familiar, stimulate memory and engage residents in meaningful activities. Examples of these stations are a men’s rummage desk, a cooking area, gardening center, tool center, work desk, sports corner and more.

Residents who enjoyed swimming throughout their lives will have the opportunity to participate in an aquatic exercise program designed to rekindle positive memories of swimming and get them involved in active swimming again.

The Memory Care Neighborhood is a benefit not only for Danberry residents, but the greater Hoover community as well, Director of Healthcare Services at Danberry at Inverness Jeana Robinson said.

“Everything you need for a fulfilling, wellness-focused retirement is right here, at Danberry at Inverness,” Robinson said. “And even when supportive care is needed, it’s good to know that you need not compromise elegance or comfort to have the same satisfying lifestyle. The Garden at Danberry Memory Care Neighborhood not only offers high quality of life, but also exceptional care through the Heartfelt CONNECTIONS Memory Care program. This exciting, nationally recognized program offers people with Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementias the care, respect, dignity and quality of life loved ones want for them.”

The Heartfelt CONNECTIONS Memory Care program stems from each person’s life story, using reminiscence tools to capture a lasting legacy of details about an individual’s family, friends, career, hobbies, likes and dislikes.

“Memories fade, but we know those past relationships and experiences continue to shape our residents’ lives each and every day,” Robinson said.

The new memory care neighborhood includes licensed nurses on duty 24 hours a day; physical, occupational and speech therapy; numerous activities involving aquatic exercise, secure walking areas and gardens; personalized assistance with daily activities; and suites with private bathrooms for each resident.
