CHELSEA – Drayer Physical Therapy Institute has relocated one of its 10 Birmingham-area outpatient centers to Chelsea.

“This is a strategic move to bring our service to more communities along the Highway 280 corridor,” said Tracy Causey, regional vice president for Drayer. “It is an area that encompasses Interstate 459 to Chelsea and southern Shelby County.”

The center, which opened on Aug. 31, is located at 104 Chelsea Point Drive, next to Sonic and across the street from Walmart.

The center is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and by appointment on Saturdays, and it features abundant on-site parking.

It replaces Drayer’s center that had operated since 2010 at 2823 Greystone Commercial Boulevard in Birmingham.
The Chelsea center specializes in orthopedics, pediatrics, sports medicine, occupational rehabilitation, neurological rehabilitation, fall prevention, TMJ dysfunction and spinal traction therapy.

The new center represents a homecoming for clinical director Kelley Zajac.

Prior to joining Drayer in February, Zajac spent six years working for another outpatient center in Chelsea.

She received a master’s degree in physical therapy in 2002 from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

In addition to Chelsea, Drayer plans within six months to open a new center across the street from Grandview Medical Center, Causey said.

It will replace Drayer’s center at 720 Montclair Road in Birmingham.

Based in Hummelstown, Pa., Drayer (Drayerpt.com) provides rehabilitation services with a physician’s referral, offering 24-hour access to care.
