Hoover City, Shelby County schools ranked among best in state

Two local school districts were recently named among the top 25 in Alabama by national ranking company, Niche.
Hoover City Schools came in at No. 3 on Niche.com’s Best School Districts in Alabama list, while Shelby County Schools took No. 15.
According to Niche.com, the Best School Districts in Alabama list ranked the top 100 school districts in the state by analyzing “government and public data sets, Niche’s own proprietary data” and opinion surveys from students, alumni and parents.
Hoover City Schools, with a student body of nearly 14,000, received an A+ grade from Niche for overall performance, taking in to account academics, administration, extracurricular activities, food, safety, facilities, resources, athletics, school culture and faculty.
“According to state standards, 92 percent of students in this district are considered proficient in math and/or reading,” Niche.com’s entry on Hoover City Schools read. “There have been 330 reviews written and they have been mostly positive.”
Shelby County Schools received a B+ grade from Niche.com for overall performance.
